What is Oncology Massage?

Oncology Massage is a form of bodywork encompassing a wide array of non-invasive therapies designed to enhance the healing process throughout the various stages of cancer and recovery. Gentle techniques such as Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Mastectomy and Breast Massage, Reflexology, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, and Reiki are employed depending on the patient’s needs.

Oncology Massage Challenging Myths

The profession of oncology massage has challenged an old myth – that massage promotes the spread of cancer by increasing circulation.  This myth was based on a primitive understanding of how cancer spreads and on imbalanced research about the impact of massage.  Oncology massage and other relaxing spa therapies, are successfully combined with more traditional cancer treatments to comfort patients and affirm life.

According to a recent issue of Massage & Bodywork , hospitals that offer complementary alternative medicine to their patients grew by more than 30% in the last two years alone because many cancer patients, and those that care for them, are looking for a peaceful respite from the rigors and (at times ongoing) demands of cancer treatment.

The New Logo: Heaven’s Door Universal Cancers Kusudama™

(Copyright 2010© Designed by Daphne Evans)

The Kusudama (origami) originated from ancient Japanese culture, where they were used for incense and potpourri; possibly originally being actual bunches of flowers or herbs. The word itself is a combination of two Japanese words Kusuri, (Medicine), and Tama, (Ball). Kusudamas are now typically used as decorations, or as gifts. What a more fitting way to give a gift of love through this symbol of good health! Thank you for your donation.
